Roasted Pear Sauce
- Servings: Twelve 1/4-cup servings
Easy prep and less mess are the hallmarks of oven-bag cooking. Inside the bag, the pears become moist and tender as they cook unattended in the oven while you relax. No stirring or basting is necessary. It's a nice company-special recipe for 116 calories a serving that gives the cook more time with guests. When the meal is done, gather up the bag, lift it from the dish, and toss. Cleanup without scrubbing. Who doesn't love that?
- 3 large ripe pears, cored and cut in 1-inch pieces (about 1-1/2 pounds total)
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1 1/2 teaspoons snipped fresh sage
- Toasted walnuts
- Pear Slices (optional)
- Fresh sage leaves (optional)
- Disposable oven bag
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place disposable oven bag in a roasting pan according to package directions, shaking at least a tablespoon of flour in the bag. Cut six 1/2-inch slits in top of bag. Toss pear pieces with melted butter; place in bag; close bag. Roast, uncovered, for 20 to 25 minutes or until pears are tender. Cool 5 minutes.
Cut open top of bag. Using a long-handled spoon, transfer pears to a large bowl; add honey and lemon juice. Use immersion blender to blend pear mixture until almost smooth. Stir in snipped fresh sage.
Serve warm pear sauce topped with walnuts, pear slices, and fresh sage leaves. Makes 12 (1/4 cup) servings sauce.
