- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 3 2/3 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup vanilla frosting
- 1 1/2 cups M&M'S® Brand Chocolate Candies for the Holidays
PREHEAT oven to 350°F.
COMBINE sugar and molasses in a large saucepan. Over medium-high heat, bring sugar and molasses to a boil.
REMOVE from heat and add baking soda. Add shortening to mixture, stirring until melted. Stir in egg; add flour, spice and salt.
TRANSFER to a work surface and knead the dough until smooth. Divide the dough into two pieces.
ROLL one piece of dough to 1/4-inch thickness on Reynolds® Parchment Paper. Cut out the cookie shape using a paring knife. Remove the scraps, leaving the cookie on the sheet of Reynolds® Parchment Paper.
SLIDE the parchment paper with cookie onto a cookie sheet.
BAKE 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and puffy.
MAKE a second cookie with the remaining dough and scraps. Repeat rolling, cutting and baking process. Cool cookies completely before decorating.
SPOON frosting into a resealable plastic bag; snip a corner and pipe an outline on each cookie, or use the frosting to attach M&M'S® Brand Chocolate Candies for the Holidays.
