Reynolds® Oven Bags are the easy way to make great tasting meals for your family. Whether it’s your family’s Thanksgiving turkey or a flavorful prime rib roast, using an oven bag is the easy way to enjoy great tasting meats and vegetables.
To use your oven bag, just place it in a pan and fill it with your favorite meat and/or vegetables and refer to any additional information on the package as needed. Close it using the nylon tie provided and place it in the oven for an easy meal prepared with only one pan. The bag traps in moisture and natural juices to keep food from drying out so it comes out juicy and tender every time.
Another benefit of cooking with an oven bag is that clean-up is easy since there’s no messy pan to scrub. From beginning to end, oven bags are a perfect way to enjoy family dinner without the fuss.
Reynolds® Oven Bags are available in two sizes:
- Standard size for meats up to 8 lbs. or for recipes with 4 to 6 servings
- Turkey size for meats and poultry up to 24lbs.
What are oven bags made of?
A heat resistant nylon that is FDA-compliant for cooking.
Why do you add flour to oven bags?
Always shake one tablespoon of flour in an oven bag before cooking. This flour should remain in the bag during cooking to blend the fat and juices and to protect against bursting. More than one tablespoon of flour may be added to the bag for recipes with thickened sauces or gravy.
You can use cornstarch or any other kind of flour such as rice flour or potato flour. Matzo meal may also be used. You should always include flour or a flour substitute because it blends the fat and juices in the oven bag to prevent the oven bag from bursting.
Will my turkey brown in a Reynolds® Oven Bag?
Yes, turkeys will brown in an oven bag. Smaller turkeys will brown lightly. Larger turkeys will become golden brown because they cook longer. To improve browning, brush your turkey with vegetable oil or melted butter before placing in the oven bag. You may also sprinkle lightly with paprika.
