Hoisin-Garlic Mushroom Appetizers

This easy appetizer slow cooks without your attention until party time. Starting with a slow cooker liner in the slow cooker bowl saves you cleanup time at the end of the party. Slow cooker liners can be used to make your favorite recipes without changing the cooking time or altering the taste. There's less soaking and scrubbing, and more time to enjoy food and friends. Cool slow cooker completely; remove the empty liner and discard.

  • 1/2 cup bottled hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons bottled minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 24 ounces whole fresh button mushrooms, trimmed
  • Disposable slow cooker liner


Step 1

Place the disposable slow cooker liner inside a 3-1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker bowl. Fit liner snugly against the bottom and sides; pull top of liner over rim of bowl. Combine hoisin sauce, the water, garlic, and crushed red pepper; stir in mushrooms. Add to slow cooker.

Step 2

Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 5 to 6 hours or on high-heat setting for 2-1/2 to 3 hours. To serve, remove mushrooms from cooker with a slotted spoon. Discard cooking liquid. Serve warm mushrooms with decorative toothpicks. Makes 10 appetizer servings.
